Our Philosophy

At Simba Education, we are deeply committed to giving children the best possible start to their educational journey. We believe in creating a true partnership between children, educators, and families, where learning happens collaboratively. Children are capable, competent learners and active citizens in the world from the very beginning of their lives. As educators, our role is to foster and support their natural curiosity into the world around them through intentional teaching and thoughtfully designed environments that inspire exploration and discovery. Our curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, the National Quality Standards, and the Reggio Emilia Philosophy, ensuring a rich, holistic foundation for each child’s learning experience.

At the heart of our approach are these key beliefs:

100 languages of children

We believe that children possess limitless ways to think, express, understand, and engage with the world around them. Through our
play-based approach, children are encouraged to communicate both verbally and non-verbally, using a variety of mediums, experiences, and theories. Every child has a voice, and it is our job to listen and honour their unique expressions.

Environment as the third teacher

The Reggio Emilia Philosophy recognises the parent as the child’s first teacher, the educator as the second, and the environment as the third. The environment is an essential part of learningβ€”one that should be respectful, flexible, inviting, and nurturing. It must offer children the freedom to explore their interests, collaborate and make decisions independently, all while supporting their growing competencies and skills.

Image of the child

We view each child as a capable, competent, and curious learner. They are unique individuals, full of potential, and deeply connected to the world around them. When we plan experiences and create environments for the children, we ensure that they have access to real materials, opportunities for risky play and activities that build practical skills. Our goal is to prepare children for the world they will encounter, empowering them to climb their own mountains of creativity and discovery.

It takes a village

We understand that the growth and development of each child is a collective effort. By building authentic relationships with families, our community and external agencies, we gain a holistic view of each child. This partnership helps us support their learning and sense of belonging in the world.

Documentation

Reggio Emilia recognises the integral role documentation plays in ensuring that children’s learning is visible both to the child and the adults that care and educate for them. Documentation allows us the opportunity to acknowledge and understand children’s ideas and ways of thinking, To re-examine and re-explore different theories and thought processes. To deconstruct, reconstruct and relaunch their learning again and again. This can be evident through floor books, displays, visual images, drawing or videos.
